Believe it or not, taking a painting class was Basil’s idea – but I was more than happy to sign up! This was not my first attempt at painting, but it is my first finished piece! My first attempt (years and years ago) was a bit ambitious. I bought a huge 4ft x 4ft canvas and envisioned creating a beautiful cityscape masterpiece that I would present to my dad – but I never got around to finishing it. I would carry this huge square canvas and my paints a few long blocks over to Central Park or sometimes paint up on the roof of our apartment building. I remember it would blow over in the wind on the roof (tall building) or bang up against me when I would carry it back from the park.

I was able to twist Lynn’s arm to receive her very generous permission to post her award-winning Almond Cake recipe! I was going to wait until I found the time to make the cake myself so that I could post some snazzy moody pictures along with the recipe but obviously that hasn’t happened. And where has January gone!???! To remind you, this was the cake that won Lynn first place in our First Annual Holiday Bake-Off and the coveted iPod Shuffle.. lucky girl. Can you smell my envy?
Read more »Last week on a Wednesday, well into my daily morning ritual of hitting the snooze button and lounging a bit more in bed, I finally decide to get up and start my day. But not until after sneaking in one final morning stretch to get the sleep kinks out of my body. I reach up and out and.. out pops my shoulder from the socket! Wow, I’m out of shape. The sucker just slips out over the cartilage and there I am, trapped in bed with my arm hanging out of the socket. Hmmm… what a conundrum.
Read more »There are whole discussions about whether these lomographic cameras create art or cheap photography but I have to admit that I’m a fan. I’ve been lazy to research and finally purchase one, although I’m sure when I stop playing Farmville for 5 minutes and commit some of my “personal fund” to this venture, I can make this happen.

Read more »Last night Basil and I realized we had a free and quiet Friday night tonight… no plans, no obligations, no work to catch up on… *?blink?* …. What the heck should we do? The soon-to-be-found, somewhat-obvious answer of course was: what else but Endless Shrimp at Red Lobster!? Now, this may not sound that exciting to you, but whenever that commercial comes on TV announcing this fine limited-time offer, Basil yells out, “ooooh yeah!!” and I know that our next date night is going to be about filling our faces with endless rounds of 4-5 different preparations of our little shellfish friends.
